Prevention through Design
Our experienced experts assess risks and produce deliverables designed to optimize systems-level performance, improving productivity, quality, and human performance and well-being.
When we say “Prevention through Design,” that includes:
Prevention of injury and discomfort for workers
Prevention of costly musculoskeletal issues
Prevention of lost time and decreased productivity due to the above
Prevention of production bottlenecks and other profit-sucking inefficiencies
Prevention of negative human environment interactions that will decrease system optimization
Deliverables
Physical Demands Analysis
Accurate, objective, legally-defensible analysis of the physical demands of the essential functions of the job/job tasks. The Physical Demands Analysis is the foundational component of many ergonomics-related services and programs, such as job-specific testing, development of best work practices, job coaching, and training camps.
Job-Specific Test Development
ADA/EEOC-compliant job-specific testing (post-offer and return-to-work) utilizing the results of the Physical Demands Analysis to develop job-specific testing to determine if a job candidate or an employee returning to work is physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job. The WorkSTEPS® methodology/protocol is utilized for the job-specific testing component.
Ergonomic Risk Assessments
Identification of ergonomic risk factors present in the work environment, as well as identifying the potential root causes; Design, development, implementation, and evaluation of abatements/controls to eliminate/mitigate the identified ergonomic risk. These are highly visual documents showing correct and incorrect scenarios as well as possible abatements.
Ergonomic Program Development
Assist clients with developing a comprehensive ergonomics program by outlining key components necessary to design, develop, implement, and evaluate an effective, sustainable ergonomics program.
Functional Job Descriptions
Our Functional Job Descriptions are developed based on the Physical Demands Analysis and include the manual material handling aspects (what the person must lift, carry, push/pull, etc.), as well as the body positions and body movements necessary to perform the physical requirements of the essential functions of their job. This will provide a highly accurate, versatile tool.
Expert Witness Consultation
We serve as expert witnesses (testifying or non-testifying) in cases involving work-related musculoskeletal injury. Past cases include ergonomics/human factors (line of sight, color contrast) and manual material handling.
